I wanted to give you guys info on my lazy wash n go method!
This is the method I used 24/7 before I had a devacurl stylist show me how bomb my hair could be with full shingling (Click here for shingling routine). The only issue with that? It takes a long time – about an hour. It doesn’t last long (3 day hair looks crazy) and my results are inconsistent. I’m just not good at it and honestly the more i separate curls and smooth them, the more frizz i get! Especially at the front of my hair.
For example here are my results last week shingling with kinky curly (defining every curl) vs my lazy method with the same products (prayer hand method) both on day 2.

I’m 18 weeks pregnant and everyone has been fussing at me to get more than 5 hours of sleep 😂😂. So I have but it’s cut into my blog time.
As a quick update – I feel awesome and cute. I only got dressed 2x this week but that’s ok 😂. I also organized under the sink in the bathroom in my nesting escapades.
Started my next fitness program and I’m feeling great. This week was only 15 minutes – next week goes to 25.
Anywho, a real post will come soon but for now – Here’s some pics of my pregnancy flyness over the past couple weeks.
I’ve been neglecting not just this blog but also my hair so I decided to get it braided up! My homegirl Abirah (@godsgifttoyou) was coming to WV to do hair so I made an appointment and a trip. Can’t wait to see what i can do with these once my scalp isn’t too tight lol

How do you handle stress?
In the past, I had a lot of unhealthy ways of handling stress. Probably because I am just generally an anxious person so I am constantly feeling some level of stress. But I try to focus now on what I’m feeling, why, and how i’m dealing with it. It’s hard – because I want to escape the stress but sometimes it’s necessary in life.
Today I am stressed. There’s no particular reason, I just feel anxious. It’s actually almost a crime to feel so anxious on such a good hair day (day 4 wash and go. Look at this! Like, hello!)
But really, I feel super behind on things for my business, on blog content, on housework… on LIFE.
Honestly, I know in reality I’m no further behind that I always am.. but it doesn’t feel that way. I feel stressed and kind of trapped.
To avoid dropping back into unhealthy habits – for stress relief – I plan. I believe that I have stress because there is an issue I need to solve. Today my issue is I spend a lot of time worrying about what I’m not getting done – instead of getting it done. My time could be better used getting something done. I’ve recently started planning for my business and it has made me feel 1,000x better – but I dont’ do the same for my home/mom life.
In order to maximize my planner I went out (after being encouraged by Shay at http://www.shaybudgets.com) and got some stickers. This should help me get more into each space and also just make things prettier.
I also plan on, instead of leaving the center block of my planner blank, planning activities for LB and I. Along with not just making – but sticking to our weekly meal plan.
Starting out this planning already has me feeling so much less anxious. I know it’s not for everyone, and some of my friends think I’m crazy – but it’s what works for me.
What works for you?
I realized today I haven’t posted an updated hair routine since since this post. So much has changed from back then – mainly the hair color and cut. 2 years ago I went through a ‘phase’ where I quit doing sets all the time and did wash n goes 80% of the time. It was right after my first devacut. Well, one day I realized I hated them so I went back to sets.
That day was probably the day I needed my hair shaped! Once I got my devacut in June – I knew I was ready to bring back my wash n goes for the summer. I had talked to the stylist about how I had been feeling about mine (undefined, inconsistent, weird shaped) and she let me know that she was fixing the shape (of course) but that the reason I am not seeing the definition I want and seeing so much frizz is because everytime you wash and go your curls get more used to clumping. Takes less time and is less frizzy :).
So I was like.. you know she right. Because when i did them all the time it was easy. So I am back on it. And here is my routine:

Guys. Some days, I’m just a genius. I had one of those days last week. Let me tell you how.
So I was packing up to head to Indianapolis for Coach Summit which is like a big convention for my business. And as I’m packing I also got dressed and unraveled my hair for a braidout. And like I’ve done basically every day for a year – I tried to stretch and shrink and make my hair look like it had some kind of shape. And I thought.. dang – I haven’t had a haircut in 2.5 years. Like a professional one for the shape.
And then on timehop – this pic popped up.
This is the cut I got as a hair model for Deva Curl at a hair show in Nashville.
Made me realize just HOW BAD my hair shape had gotten. I mean – look at it. Just triangular.
Soooooo I got on IG and fb (FOLLOW ME @TARRA.YVETTE) and posted asking for a hair stylist in Indy. And then I got on the devacurl website and checked into devacut stylists. Yal know I had to go view their work because cutting wavy hair isn’t the same as cutting these coils, ya heard? Like, I need to see that you’ve done some hair like mine.
I came accross Brittney at Kurly Koils (check her out, yo) and hit her up on IG and fb lol! Surprisingly – she could fit me in THURSDAY! YAYYYY.

Alright finallyyyy have my hair to the color I wanted. Before (first pic) was just the first step.
I was in Charleston and needed to have the color finished up (for my own sanity) so of course i went to Kara Fuller (Charleston WV) and told her “idk what I want. Here’s some pics of what I like. Here’s what I don’t like”. And she went in.
I’m no professional so take this with a grain of salt but it looked to me like she did heavy foil highlights in the front, less in the back and then some random highlights throughout without foils. She feathered in the color to make the transition look more natural. Then I sat under the IR light for 15 mins and she rinsed and toned. That’s it.
Whole process from start to finish took like 1.5 hours. To do ANYTHING to my hair in that little time is a miracle. I set it in twists after the color and unleashed last night because I couldn’t wait.
Color is exactly what I wanted with so much depth and dimension and not orange anymore lol. And my curls don’t seem damaged from either process – though it always seems a little drier the next day so I will do a deep conditioning mask tonight before I set it again (because I took down damp twists last night so this set won’t last long)
Alright, I should be done stressing yal out for a bit. Maybe. I mean I still use sulfate shampoos and ecostyler gel so you never know what ima do. Clearly I’m a rebel.
