My next fitness program..

Since I finished LIIFT4 it’s time to pick a new program! I took last week off since I was in Orlando Thursday-Sunday for a leadership retreat (more on that later this week). I knew it was time to pick a new program, so I took a few things into account:

  1. Time. LIIFT4 was 8 weeks. I wanted to do something shorter than 8 weeks BUT with workouts around 30 mins or less a day.
  2. Meal plan. I’ve been following 2B mindset LOOSELY but I need something strict right now. I haven’t had my recommended amount of veggies in weeks. It’s time I get back at it.
  3. Limited core work. I won’t be able to lay on my back and do core work much longer.
  4. Not a lot of equipment – I want to do this in my bedroom so I don’t have to convince myself to go to the basement to get started. Continue reading “My next fitness program..”

Blueberry cookies? Eh.. sure!

Yal know my beezy bee is a picky eater, right? Always has been. And when I was his age I was too so I try to be understanding.

Today I told him we were going to start eating more fruits and veggies. Somehow, from that he translated that we were going to have blueberry cookies.

Soooo I took a peanut butter cookie recipe and modified it and added some blueberries.

Ingredients:

About 1 cup peanut butter

1 tsp of Nutella

About 1/4 cup of flour

A splash of water

1 whole banana

Blueberries

Aldi came thru with generic halo top!

Yal. Anyone who knows me knows I shop FAITHFULLY at Aldi. Idc about no name brand anything – it’s all basically the same (except some cereals) and the savings is AMAZING. But there are some things I’d venture to Kroger/Target for…. and one of those was if I was having a halotop craving.

If you don’t know about halotop – basically it’s icecream with way less calories and less sugar and less fat and ALL of the taste. It’s bombbbbbbb. The ingredients aren’t perfect (I don’t do a lot of sugar alcohols because they bloat me.. but so does regular ice cream so I may as well choose something friendlier to my goals LOL).

Anywho, HaloTop typically runs around $3.99 per pint. It’s worth it. I spend it. However this week at Aldi, hubby grabbed some of their low fat icecream. It’s a halotop generic, with similar ingredients and macros. It costs $2.99 per pint.

I was skeptical because I LOVE HaloTop. But I gave it a try last night and YAL – IT LITERALLY TASTES JUST AS GOOD! The texture is also similar. The main difference I noticed is HaloTop is a little hard – it says right on the carton to let it sit out a few minutes before you start eating. The Aldi brand is not like that. You don’t have to let it thaw some before eating.

I immediately flipped to the back to check the macros. Compared to halotp, the macros per serving are actually better. The Aldi brand has less calories, sodium, less cholesterol, less total and saturated fat, less sugar and sugar alcohol, and more calcium (HaloTop has more iron though).

I had to take a look at the ingredients and compare.

HaloTop ingredients: Skim milk, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, cream, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, natural flavor, sea salt, vanilla beans, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia leaf extract.

Aldi low fat icecream ingredients: milk and cream, milk protein concentrate, erythritol, chicory root extract, egg yolks, glycerin, sugar, vanilla extract, locust bean gum, guar gum, monk fruit extract, vanilla bean specks, vitamin A palmitate

In my opinion neither is perfect, but HaloTop appears to use higher quality organic ingredients. It looks like there’s less cholesterol in the Aldi brand because of using egg yolks instead of whole eggs. Aldi also doesn’t use any salt or Stevia.

Naturally HaloTop has more flavors as well as having a wide selection of vegan flavors too. At our local Aldi there were only a few flavors of the low fat icecream.

In my opinion, the changes don’t cause a difference in taste (though I haven’t done a side by side). I’m not sure how much you’d save at $1 a pint per year – but if you are already at Aldi weekly like I am – may as well pick up a pint a try!

Protective styling!

I’ve been neglecting not just this blog but also my hair so I decided to get it braided up! My homegirl Abirah (@godsgifttoyou) was coming to WV to do hair so I made an appointment and a trip. Can’t wait to see what i can do with these once my scalp isn’t too tight lol

For those who don’t follow me on ig or fb:

“Honestly guys I’ve been feeling off for the past month or so. It’s shown in every aspect of my life. Sometimes I think doing this dance between being a full time at home mommy and a wife and a business owner and a sister and a daughter and every other role I assume that sometimes I forget to just be me.

I hide parts of myself that don’t fit in with the people I’m around. I mute myself. I tone myself down. Because honestly I’m too much for some and three much for most.

But I really need to stop that shit so I can enjoy life. So I decided getting my hair done was a good first step. The tension on my scalp right now is a constant reminder that I need to remember who the f I am.

And the truth is, yeah I’m all them other titles. But I’m still a bad ass bish 👌🏾. I really needed to adjust my crown.”

I’ll be back in a few days with more updates 👌🏾

How do you handle stress?

How do you handle stress?

In the past, I had a lot of unhealthy ways of handling stress. Probably because I am just generally an anxious person so I am constantly feeling some level of stress. But I try to focus now on what I’m feeling, why, and how i’m dealing with it. It’s hard – because I want to escape the stress but sometimes it’s necessary in life.

Today I am stressed. There’s no particular reason, I just feel anxious. It’s actually almost a crime to feel so anxious on such a good hair day (day 4 wash and go. Look at this! Like, hello!)

But really, I feel super behind on things for my business, on blog content, on housework… on LIFE.

Honestly, I know in reality I’m no further behind that I always am.. but it doesn’t feel that way. I feel stressed and kind of trapped.

To avoid dropping back into unhealthy habits – for stress relief – I plan. I believe that I have stress because there is an issue I need to solve. Today my issue is I spend a lot of time worrying about what I’m not getting done – instead of getting it done. My time could be better used getting something done. I’ve recently started planning for my business and it has made me feel 1,000x better – but I dont’ do the same for my home/mom life.

In order to maximize my planner I went out (after being encouraged by Shay at http://www.shaybudgets.com) and got some stickers. This should help me get more into each space and also just make things prettier.

I also plan on, instead of leaving the center block of my planner blank, planning activities for LB and I. Along with not just making – but sticking to our weekly meal plan.

Starting out this planning already has me feeling so much less anxious. I know it’s not for everyone, and some of my friends think I’m crazy – but it’s what works for me.

What works for you?

How to stay on track while you’re traveling

I travel a lot more than usual now that I’m free from my 9-5 (see more details here). One of the hardest things about traveling is that it gets me all off schedule fitness wise. However, I have figured out a way to not ruin all of my progress or fall off the wagon while out of town.

I

NOW HIRING

I’m expanding my team of coaches. I take coaches with all types of goals (financial or just plain finding their purpose, part time and full time, etc). And my door is always open to discuss my business with anyone interested… BUT… I have a very specific type of coach that I am currently looking for.

I am looking for my “Fab5” for the month of July. These 5 coaches are the ones with BIG plans. Who want to do this full time. Who want to not just survive, but THRIVE. I want people who dare to dream BIG. Who want to grow this business to change lives (their clients, AND theirs).

With this program you’ll get an accelerated coach basics course (14 days vs 30) as well as weekly group video chats, 1 on 1 calls and daily check ins.

To be in my fab 5 there are a few requirements:

  • Must want to launch your business quickly with no excuses
  • Want to make a real income, not spare or extra money
  • Ready to leave your comfort zone because you DESERVE MORE

And I also have a preference for people that are mad.

Yes. Angry. Mad.I want the people who look around at their lives and think… I deserve more than this. My family deserves more than this. My kids deserve more than this.  I want mommas that are rushing back to work after ‘maternity leave’ still leaking milk and waiting for their ab muscles to come back together. I want two income households who are still living paycheck to paycheck. I want stay at home moms juggling with 1 car and limited income but daycare costs more than their salary would be going back to work. I want college grads who are struggling to find work and pay student loans. I want people going to work each day feeling like they’re living a lie – like they don’t fit in – like they never will. I want the person leaving at 8 PM to finish the work that someone leaving at 5 PM got the bonus for.

That’s who I want. The angry people.

Because I was one of those angry people. And once you have that fire… you can accomplish great things.

If this is you that I’m looking for, apply here!
