Hair color

Alright finallyyyy have my hair to the color I wanted. Before (first pic) was just the first step.

I was in Charleston and needed to have the color finished up (for my own sanity) so of course i went to Kara Fuller (Charleston WV) and told her “idk what I want. Here’s some pics of what I like. Here’s what I don’t like”. And she went in.

I’m no professional so take this with a grain of salt but it looked to me like she did heavy foil highlights in the front, less in the back and then some random highlights throughout without foils. She feathered in the color to make the transition look more natural. Then I sat under the IR light for 15 mins and she rinsed and toned. That’s it.

Whole process from start to finish took like 1.5 hours. To do ANYTHING to my hair in that little time is a miracle. I set it in twists after the color and unleashed last night because I couldn’t wait.

Color is exactly what I wanted with so much depth and dimension and not orange anymore lol. And my curls don’t seem damaged from either process – though it always seems a little drier the next day so I will do a deep conditioning mask tonight before I set it again (because I took down damp twists last night so this set won’t last long)

Alright, I should be done stressing yal out for a bit. Maybe. I mean I still use sulfate shampoos and ecostyler gel so you never know what ima do. Clearly I’m a rebel.

Twist Out Routine!

I was peer pressured into starting a youtube channel last week. I do washday every tuesday night now and try to publish on Wednesday – sometimes Thursday.

Here is my first video from last week – the next will come later today. Just finished editing and have to wait on the upload.

This one is tips for the perfect twist out! I give tips and tricks to not ruin the pattern when you’re taking down your twists.

oh and here’s days 2-5 (day 6 i forgot to take a pic, day 7 was a bun)

Hair update – straight to curly :) and back to my fave product

So a lot of people have asked about my hair pressing routine. There are so many things I do to make sure that I don’t end up with damaged hair – mainly only doing 1-2 passes for each section of hair and not touching up with heat.

But I still hold my breath on wash day! Here’s how I do it 🙂

This was the last day of my press. It lasted about 3 weeks. I was over it. Idk how people with straight hair deal. Hair just shedding. Combing every day. Styling daily. Just not cool.

Here it is with the braid taken out (ignore my sticker, I had taken Beezy to the childrens expolorium earlier haha)img_9757

Bad pic but I section my hair in four sections like I do in my normal washday routine.img_9758

I take one section and totally saturate with water. First it gets smaller and straighter than it starts curling up within like 20 seconds. Then I add my fave deep conditioner and put in a bun.img_9760

I put the 4 buns in a shower cap (flipped inside out so I always have 1 clean side to protect my hair if needed haha) and wait about 5-10 mins.img_9761img_9762

Then I detangle and rinse and add my styling product. I reached for Deva Curl decadence line because honestly, I had my hair styled by devacurl stylists over a year ago and they SLAYED. So I went with it. But it’s never worked as well for me. I have to use SOOO MUCH. And it never lasts as long.img_9763

Anywho finished product the next day. I was hype to have my curls back but not hype with the results.. I NEVER AM with that product. Yet I keep stupidly using it.img_9788

I tried spraying and redefining a few times the next couple of days and it just wasn’t working right.img_9806

So here’s my story – and I’m not AT ALL knocking deva curl. But basically, I don’t know why I kept fighting with those products when I already knew what worked for me. More details on that here.

So basically, I got tired of fighting with products that didn’t work and I reached for Kinky CUrly. It was my staple for YEARS (2009 – 2015 – from growing out to taper to growing out again). I still had some left. Yal, look at the difference in how my hair looked!

img_9951img_9953img_9955img_9957

I knew from how it looked wet – it was gonna be lit. AND it took me half the time that it takes when I use deva curl. Literally took me 20-30 mins.

But dry – girl….. POPPIN.img_0017img_0002

day 2img_0188img_0099

it’s almost time to do another wash – but I’m happy with how this one lasted. I’ll be back to kinky curly for wash and goes for the unforseeable future haha. Moral of the story? It’s ok to try what works for everyone else. But don’t stick with it if it doesn’t work for you! Do you, boo!

And for the record – no heat damage in sight 🙂img_0243img_0278
